We are an entirely volunteer-run organization, and you can make a difference!

Appreciation and thanks to those of you who have volunteered in the past; we probably still need you! Reach out to the person who coordinated with you, in addition to filling in the form.

Here are the positions we are currently seeking to fill:

Editors Tea Club Officer

Editors Tea Club Officer – Secretary

Tasks:

  1. Take notes during monthly board meetings.

  2. Keep and organize records and papers of the organization.

Requirements:

  • Ability to meet for monthly board meetings, which are currently the 3rd Thursday of the month at 2 PM EST.

  • General understanding of the club's membership and purpose.

  • Availability to check Slack throughout the week.

Time Commitment:

  • 1 hour per month for the monthly board meeting.

  • Approx. 4 hours per month for admin. and prep.

Events Team Member – Video Production Assistant

Tasks:

  1. Render and edit ETC event videos in Descript software (we can train you on software).

  2. Upload large video files from Zoom into Descript and edit for time and relevance.

  3. Add title cards and quiz questions to videos (images will be provided).

  4. Prepare files for transcription volunteer to work on.

  5. Double-check that finished transcript coordinates with video times.

Requirements:

  • Time: These are large video files that can take a while to upload.

  • Powerful computer: Preferably a gaming computer or video-capable desktop computer with plenty of memory and a wired internet connection and plenty of memory space. (It can take hours to upload a 4-hour video over wi-fi on a laptop!)

  • Ability to adapt with glitches and unexpected items.

Time Commitment:

  • 1 or 2 hours per video (may be faster with a faster computer), with up to 4 Loose-Leaf Learning videos, plus up to 10–12 TEAch-In videos per year (right now it’s a maximum of 16 videos per year, but this may increase over time). Time preferably soon after events occur.

Events Team Member – General Assistants, 3 Needed

Tasks:

  1. Announcements: Read announcements when necessary during events. We usually take turns and have multiple announcers/hosts, so you don’t have to do this for the entire event.

  2. Monitor Breakout Rooms during Coffee Chats: Maintain a supportive, inclusive atmosphere, making sure everyone feels comfortable participating, and that everyone follows the ETC Code of Conduct.

  3. Prize Wheel Goddess: Set up the prize wheel before the event. Copy the names of the registrants to the prize wheel, keep it updated through the event, spin the wheel, and record the name of the winners. Reach out to the winners after the event to coordinate how they are going to receive their prize.

  4. Monitor Chat: Monitor the chat during sessions to make sure everyone is on topic and follows the ETC Code of Conduct.

  5. Miscellaneous Tasks: Backup transcription volunteer, prize redemption follow-up, assistance with post-event surveys, and other small tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • You will be expected to be present at most of our TEAch-In and LLL events and available a day before the event for the planning and run-through with the presenters and with Jill and Sohini. Occasional assistance needed during other times.

Communications Team Member – Blog Coordinator

Tasks:

  1. Managing post schedule

  2. Following up with writers and editors

  3. Soliciting blog posts

  4. Formatting and posting blog posts

  5. Follow and help maintain the ETC style guide and maintain the ETC’s friendly voice

Time Commitment:

  • Approximately 5 hours per month

Communications Team Member – Social Media

Tasks:

  1. Making graphics & posts

  2. Posting to social media accounts

  3. Engaging with followers; responding to comments and messages

  4. Follow and help maintain the ETC style guide and maintain the ETC’s friendly voice.

Time Commitment:

  • 4 hours per month initially; will likely increase as we reach more spaces.

Communications Team Member – Emails

Tasks:

  1. Manage the general info email for Editors Tea Club

  2. Manage the newsletter schedule

  3. Draft and send emails and newsletters, ensuring information follows ETC's voice and delivered promptly and engagingly

Time Commitment:

  • 4 to 8 hours per month
